LeeAdianez Rodríguez initially signed up to complete the family-friendly 5k run in New York over the weekend but found herself caught up in the more extravagant event when she rushed to the start line after thinking she was running late.
But the youngster had actually left 15 minutes early, meaning she took off with a group of people competing in the 13-mile long Rochester Regional Health Flower City Challenge.
LeeAdianez - who was among the youngest to take part in the event - finished in 1,885th place in two hours and 43 minutes.
