Journey to Hope

Journey to Hope

Journey to Hope is the story of a young man, Josh Kenyon, trying to find his way after being incarcerated for 8 years for a crime he says he didn’t commit. Leaving his home in Wyoming behind, he travels to California and secures a job at Hope Ranch, run by Brett Taylor. Brett is impressed by Josh’s honesty when he tells him of his past and hires him right away. A deep friendship based on mutual respect bonds the men and they quickly give in to the physical attraction they both feel for one another.

Brett’s buddies, however, are none too happy about him hiring an ex con, especially as the men will be alone together on the ranch. Joel Harper, the local sheriff, is especially concerned as he’s been notified by the authorities that Josh has only recently been released from Wyoming State Penitentiary.

Brett is determined to prove to everyone that Josh is innocent, but his good intentions cause unforeseen chaos when a man from Josh’s past arrives with only one thing in mind—silencing Josh forever

The book has been compared to Sandrine Gasq- Dion and Cardeno C, so how does this make you feel?

As they are both highly rated and successful authors, I’m thrilled to bits!

You toured British theatres in musical shows, so please can you tell us a little bit about this time in your life?

Ten years of touring in musical and variety shows, some stints in London’s West End, cabaret, TV work etc. It’s so far in the past that sometimes I wonder if it really did happen. But the friends I made then and still have now are lovely reminders of that time.

You emigrated to the States, so what made you leave the UK?

I was in a relationship at the time with a guy who was offered a job in the States, so I tagged along.

You worked for the magicians Siegfried and Roy, so what was that like?

It was interesting to work with people who are so removed from reality.

What made you want to explore the life of an ex con in this story?

I saw a documentary, I think on PBS, about men and women wrongly sentenced to prison terms and how their lives are forever changed by the experience. Although my character, Josh, is quite well adjusted, there are dark memories he has to deal with, something I am sure most people in his position would also have problems with.

Where did your inspiration come from for the book?

From the characters of three previous stories I’d written. Ride ’em Cowboy was the first and introduced Royce Chandler, a ranch owner’s son studying law, and Parker Jones, his dad’s foreman. I liked these guys so much I included them in the next two stories, Ride ’em Again Cowboy and Ride ’em Hard Cowboy. I wanted to do at least one more with them and Journey to Hope evolved from there.

Who are your favourite reads in the genre?

There isn’t enough room here to list them all, but I have to give a special shout out to Carol Lynne, prima author, who encouraged me to write in this genre and introduced me to Claire at Total-E-Bound.

Please can you tell us a bit about some of your previous publications with Total-E-Bound.

The first story of mine Total-E-Bound published was My Vampire and I which became an eight part series. Next to cowboys and cops I have a thing for vampires so there have been quite a lot of them in addition to the series—Blood Relations, Halloween Angel, Night Wing. I’ve also participated in a few anthologies, the latest being Fly to Him from Promoted by the Billionaire.

I like writing historical novels—The Officer and the Gentleman takes place during the Crimean War. One of my favourites is Nowhere to Hide about an Aussie soldier and an American doctor caught up in a fight with slave traders in Somalia. Liked the action, all of it, in that one. I’ve also written some Holiday themed stories, A Present Christmas, A Special Christmas and a Valentine’s story, Blueprint for Love.

What is next for you?

My next release is Paris Connection about a guy, obsessed with the movie Midnight in Paris. He takes a trip to the City of Lights and, well I guess you’ll have to wait and see!

Thank you.
