Chasing Terpsichore

Chasing Terpsichore

Chasing Terpsichore is the first book in a series about the Muses of Ancient Greece and how they find themselves trapped in modern times. Corey fends for herself by teaching the Tango, and pole dancing for fun, but she ends up in a bit of trouble. Straight-laced James comes to her rescue and all is well, but first they have to fight off a rebel Titan, and find their way back from The Underworld.  It's a lot of fun!

You live by the sea, so how inspirational is this location for your writing?

I love where I live. I wake up every morning and see the amazing view and I feel very blessed. I have discovered writing outdoors while staring at a view, although sometimes it has the opposite affect and I do more staring thank writing. As far as inspiration goes, the eye candy at the beach isn't bad either.

How much did you and your husband bond over your creative spirits when you first met?

There was definitely a creative connection but although I wasn't a writer when we first met, I was dabbling in painting at the time. Having said that, it was probably the music where we bonded. We share a mutual love of all things David Bowie, and the first time we met, we talked about Bowie and his music for a whole night.  I even bought an album from him.  When we married, we had his and hers copies of all the albums.

You teach nursing students so how do you juggle your time with this and your writing?

It's tricky.  The teaching takes a lot out of me, especially marking papers but I try to set weekly and monthly goals. Sometimes I even make them!

Most days you are out on your balcony, with a drink, so what else do you need for a perfect writing environment?

Solitude. It's the distractions that make it difficult. Oh, and a goodly supply of high energy snacks.

This is your first book as Maggie Mitchell with Totally Bound, so what about your other pen name?

I also publish action/adventure, and contemporary and historical BDSM as Maggie Nash, so I've been with Totally Bound for over five years now. I love working with them.

Was novel writing anything like you imagined it would be?

I don't think I ever imagined what writing a novel would be like, except that it takes a long time, and you need to be focused.  I guess I was right :-)

What is next for you?

I'm almost done with book two in the series, and after that book three is calling my name.
