I started writing and recording my original songs when I was 13. My first studio set up was sitting in my twin bed and holding a tape recorder in my hand.

I have been a lifelong doodler. Starting from science lessons in primary school, probably inspired by the illustrations in the textbooks, I hardly ever went a class without doodling in my books.

I spent a gap year in Ethiopia. At the end of high school, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, so I picked a country I knew absolutely nothing about - Ethiopia - and lived there for a year.

I was a part of a local church choir in Ethiopia. Singing with that choir is one of my fondest memories of that year.

When I was 6 years old, I tried to start a family magazine. My vision was a weekly periodical with updates on everyone's lives, with fascinating columns on our various perspectives on life. I went around interviewing my three siblings to try to get juicy stories from them. The business folded very quickly.

I have an acting degree. I'm not sure what to use it for, but it's there.

For two years in college, I also pursued a major in journalism. My biggest takeaway? Choose your words wisely in any piece of writing. Question every noun, adjective, and verb in your sentences and make sure only the best words stay. Also, short sentences are great.

I love Elvis Presley. His voice is honey to my ears, and I can't listen to "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" without tears invading my cheeks.

My husband and I are absolute opposites in every way. A good day is when we don't have to explain what we're saying to each other more than three times.

I am an introvert. At most parties, I'm in the corner wondering when I can go home to get in my pajamas.
