I've always loved reading and can still remember sneaking books off of my mother's bookshelves as soon as I could reach the higher ones. That's where she kept her "special" titles. At the time, she belonged to a by-mail only book service and the type of books she received were considered mainstream contemporary romance novels. Throughout my teenage years, I read a variety of different authors, but all of the books tended to be similar in nature. They would start out boy meets girl, include some type of minor conflict and then end with a happily ever after. The words would flow beautifully from one page to the next, but at the end, I'd be left wondering how much more I knew about the characters then compared to when I first started reading their story.

Obsession

Obsession

One day, I walked by the book aisle at the market and a cover caught my eye. For those that say that a cover isn't that important, I'd have to disagree. I was enticed, so I picked up the novel and threw it into my cart. That night, I had my first introduction into Erotica. I was immediately hooked and joined different reading clubs and circles. I read book after book until one day I decided to see what the hype was about concerning a particular series. It was the first time I had ever heard about BDSM, much less read anything about it. What could possibly be so great about that type of sex? Beyond that, what type of woman would allow a man such total control over her? While the relationship in that popular series between the male and female lead wasn't what I would ideally be drawn to, the lifestyle was something I could be.

I dove into a few other series by well-known authors and found a completely new passion for writing. When I was young, I'd dabble in short stories and poems. I harbored fantasies of one day writing a book of my own but I found that I lacked the motivation to continue after a few chapters. With new inspiration, I studied up on the BDSM lifestyle and despite the hushed conversations around me, I knew that I wanted to write a book that not only explored it, but dispelled the myths about what it meant to truly be a submissive woman.

In the beginning, many people, myself included, only saw the way the submissive would act in the bedroom. After extensive research, I realized how wrong a perception I possessed. Many women are submissive in the bedroom only. Most are independent, strong and empowered females who are used to being in control. The very thought that these capable, powerful women could let go and surrender themselves to someone else made them that much more admirable to me. It was at that moment that I was determined to write a novel that explored that journey. Thus, Obsession, was created. My debut short novel is the first book in the Nirvana Trilogy, which is about Hannah Brinkley, a secretary who moves to Atlanta, Georgia for a job opportunity after a failed relationship. She falls for a man that is not only her boss, but a Dominant as well. She struggles internally with keeping the two sides of the spectrum separate while trying to reconcile her true feelings and not fall into the traps of her past.

While portraying Hannah's journey, I ended up embarking on my own. Initially my plan was to focus on the submissive role within a D/s relationship, but as the story began to unfold, I became more intrigued with the Dominant role. Like Hannah, Thaddeus also has demons that help shape who he is. As the characters spoke to me, I learned most things-and people-- are rarely what they appear to be on the surface and just like any "vanilla" relationship, there are always secrets to reveal. Trust and communication are key, no matter what lifestyle you choose to live.

Blurb for Obsession:

The ultimate bachelor meets his match when he sets out to seduce his secretary. What starts off as fantasy soon becomes an obsession.

Thaddeus Remington has everything he has ever wanted-a successful business, wealth and the ultimate bachelor lifestyle-until he meets his new secretary, Hannah Brinkley. Immediately he is intrigued and drawn to her, unaware of the side she keeps hidden until he sees her one evening at a local Atlanta kink club. Intending to turn his fantasies into reality, he sets out to seduce her.

Hannah Brinkley, a transplant from Texas, is unable to resist the lure of once again finding pleasure at the hands of a Dominant and becomes a member at a local club. Once there, she realizes that the man who flirts incessantly with her throughout the day is actually in a position to back up each and every naughty suggestion.

Physical attraction soon leads to a full-blown obsession that leaves them not only questioning each other but also searching their own hearts. Will the answers revealed bring them closer to experiencing nirvana in each other's arms or tear them apart for good?
