Point of no Return

Point of no Return

Point of No Return is a re-release. It's the story of Matt and Kira, or Frankie as he's known to Matt's colleagues, are quite happy in their secret relationship. When professional and personal lives clash in an unexpected way, everything changes.  This story started as a stand-alone, but the characters wanted more. After I'd written the second book, Breaking Point, a pre-reader and friend of mine told me they needed a happier HEA, so the third book, Starting Point, came to light.  Point of No Return is exactly that for the main character, Matt.  Meeting Kira, and the consequences of his job, change his life forever and is essentially the point of no return for him.

You have been writing non-stop for four years, so how did you find the discipline to do it?

I don't have much of a life outside of my writing, and I usually write every day without fail. I don't watch much TV and I get by on very little sleep. Truthfully, of late, the temptation of other online distractions has been a hit to my discipline, but a much needed break. I hit a bit of a wall recently, and really needed a step back. It's been three weeks and the longest break I've had from writing in four years.

You have another job and children, so how did you fit it in around your personal life?

I do have RL commitments that should, but don't always, come first. As I mentioned before, I'm a bit of a hermit (happily so) and I don't watch much TV. My kids play a LOT of sport which takes most afternoons and weekends, which means I write when I should be sleeping. It would explain the dark circles under my eyes and my dependence on coffee.

You chat regularly with your readers, so how important is it for you to stay in touch with them?

I love it. I get emails, messages etc. every day from readers, and I love that connection.  I love hearing how they related to a character, or even just to say hi. I recently posted a message on my blog and on Facebook that I was taking a breather to de-stress, and had so many people contact me to wish me well. It was very humbling. The connection with readers is something I don't take for granted. I really value it. I've made some of the best friendships that started out as a quick email or message, which turned into chats and conversations. And I also love how spread over the world we are.

Tell us a little bit about the third instalment of the Turning Point series.

The third instalment, Starting Point, is my current WIP.  There are life changing consequences from the second instalment, Breaking Point, which my characters need to deal with. Matt in particular needs to reconcile guilt and regrets with starting a new chapter in his life. Kira is his foundation, and has such strength and ability to see Matt for who he really is. It's called Starting Point, because it really is the beginning of a new life for these boys.

The story has been re-released, so please tell us a bit about the added scenes and why you decided to change it slightly.

Point of No Return is a re-release.  I added about 9K words, and while there's a new extra scenes, the added words are mostly giving depth to conversations, showing not telling and basically strengthening the story.

Your character inspiration pic is of Daniel Craig, so why is he such a perfect fit for Matt?

Hmmm, Daniel Craig...  Handsome, but not classically so.  A little rough around the edges, and not model perfect. Matt is a Narcotics detective, and even talks about injuries he's sustained on the job (being hit, shot at, etc.)  and he boxes for fitness, so there is going to be a not-so straight nose in there too. LOL

Why did you see the potential for the setting in the cabin at Wrightwood?

Geographically, the location fit. I needed something close to LA, but a world away.  These boys needed somewhere private where we could see them being open and true to each other. I was chatting with a friend who lives in California, and found Wrightwood and it was perfect. The cabin in particular, even with the deck overlooking the forest is exactly the way I pictured it.  Also, the way Matt talked about hating camping was me through and through. My sister read that part and laughed, knowing exactly where that came from.  LOL

What is next for you?

I'll be wrapping up the third and final instalment for the Turning Point series as soon as I can. I do have another trilogy, the Thomas Elkin Series, being released over the next few months with Total E-Bound as well. After that, I have a half-finished Australian Outback story, and a few sequels promised for other books.  I seriously need more time in the day.
