Needing

Needing

Needing is about two of my favourite characters, Oliver and Langham, and I love them so much I decided to write a series called Voices. Langham is a detective, and Oliver is a psychic who aids the police in solving crimes. It makes for some gritty stuff, but writing thrillers and crime is one of my favourite things to do, so these two keep my happily busy!

You are busy co-authoring with Jaime Samms so what can you tell us about this?

Yes, Jaime and I are writing a series at the moment that is really quite complex. Lots of characters, plus it has another world behind a veil where things aren’t the same as in this world. So at times the process is slow going. I love killing people off, Jaime doesn’t, and the book involves a lot of killing so poor Jaime needs to take deep breaths often in order to continue (I don’t find this amusing at all, honestly…). But we’re very close to finishing book 2, and it’s been a long time coming as each book is around 90K.

You have several books in mind, so how did your collaboration come about?

Do you know, I can’t even remember how we got together. I know it was to write our book Fight (more news on that soon), but I’m so glad we did. I love writing with Jaime.

Please tell us about the book that doesn’t want to end!

LOL! That book is Voices five. There is only 9K left to write, but goodness, that story just doesn’t seem to want me to finish it. But I plan on doing just that this weekend. I can’t wait to finish as book six involves Oliver and Langham going to Spain, so writing about sunnier climes and researching the area they’ll be staying in is something I’m really looking forward to. Plus they have some saucy things they want to try and I want to explore those and see how far the men are prepared to go.

Why are two heads better than one in erotic fiction? (pardon the pun!)

In my case, with the people I co-author with, we each enjoy doing what the other one doesn’t. So, I like killing people off, Jaime doesn’t. I love writing as the bad guy, Jaime doesn’t. It’s great, because we get to do what we like best then let the other do what we’d prefer not to!

How do you juggle your writing with your children, husband and three cats?

Every Saturday I sit down early on and just write. I try to hit about 5K before lunch so that if we want to go somewhere I’ve got a decent count. But most Saturdays and part of Sunday I glue my bottom to the chair and just keep writing. It’s brilliant. The kids are older now so don’t need me as much as they used to, and Hubby is a gamer so for his free time he plays Xbox. If I didn’t write I’d only be sitting there reading anyway, so whenever there’s spare time, I get writing. Better than sitting there twiddling my thumbs!

You live in an English village, so how inspirational do you find this setting?

Not inspirational at all LOL. I rarely look out of the window, I live in quite a bubble, so the inspiration comes from my head.

What is next for you?

Finishing Voices five and the second book with Jaime, then revising our book Fight. After that I’ll start Voices six but I do want to pen a couple of shorts by Sarah in between writing M/F in my other name. Phew, it’s all go!
