I started my career as an author writing romantic comedies. I have made the switch to writing crime with my debut crime thriller The Girl In The Ice.

The Girl in the Ice

I lived in Brockley in South London for nearly ten years. I have used South London as the location for The Girl In The Ice.

Before I was an author, I was an actor. Fed up of waiting for the phone to ring, I started making my own work and writing plays.

I love a good scare. I also love to scare people. One of my first acting jobs was working at The London Dungeon. Every morning I was made up with fake blood and prosthetic cuts and bruises, and then I spent the day scaring the living daylights out of tourists. Japanese tourists in particular used to freak out quite spectacularly.

My first novel The Not So Secret Emails Of Coco Pinchard was rejected by all the major publishers, so I self-published it through Amazon. It has now sold over 100,000 copies.

When I was eight, we moved from a safe suburban street in the UK to a house in the mountains in Britsh Columbia, Canada. I got to experience a completely new culture and attend a Canadian School. It was a life changing experience. It really opened my eyes to the world.

I lived in Los Angeles for a year, in an appartment just off Hollywood Boulevard. I worked as a script doctor and it was a crazy unforgettable year. It inspired my novel Lost In Crazytown.

My husband Ján is Slovak. We came to Slovakia for a holiday 2010, and we decided to stay. I never dreamed I would live in another country, but I love it here. Slovakia is a beautful undiscovered country.

We have two Maltese dogs, Ricky and Lola, and they rule our house! We started off with Ricky, until one day we took him for a walk and we bumped into a neighbour who owns a maltese called Bella. We were chatting for a few minutes beofre we noticed Ricky and Bella were getting it on. Four months later, Ricky became a father! We were offered one of Bella's puppies, and so Lola came into our lives.

My husband Ján is a translator. He's done all the Slovak language translations which are published here in Slovakia.
