The idea to write My Favorite Mistake came out of my love of romantic comedies and watching one too many Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. I love the idea of friends to lovers and second chances. I'd wondered what would happen if two people who already had a close relationship decided to take things to the next level. Molly and Austin were that couple.

I've heard it said often that sometimes what you want is right under your nose. That was another concept I wanted to tackle in My Favorite Mistake. Now I readily admit, I'm a panster writer. I don't plan ahead of time what I'm going to write. When I do, the story tends to go sideways and out of control before I can right the ship. This story was completely written on the fly. My editor was fantastic and without her, I'd get nowhere. But the story was sort of right under my nose, too.

I had the characters of Molly and Austin floating around in my head for some time. I dreamed scenes and heard the characters talking when I wasn't expecting them to. I have lots of notebooks and usually one of them is with me at any time. As the story pieces came along, I jotted them down in those notebooks. I collected the chunks and put them aside. I wasn't entirely sure the story would work or if the characters would keep talking once I tried to put the pieces together.

Then I read through what I'd written in the notebook. I looked at what was right under my nose. Just like Molly and Austin, I had to understand what I had in those pages.

For Molly and Austin, it was more than understanding. The pair work together and have been the closest of friends for years. She's seen him involved with other women and despite her desire for him, she'd kept a bit of distance. Austin has always thought she was the one, but he worried about how the relationship would change if they did hook-up. What if the woman right there, the one he's held in the highest regard, turns out to be the best thing to happen to him? What if the relationship goes up in flames? He isn't sure how he wants to handle things.

I felt the same way while writing their story. I wasn't sure how to handle it. I shouldn't have worried. By letting Molly and Austin tell me what would happen next, everything worked out-well, it did for me. I can't give away what happens to Molly and Austin.

So with my love of second chance romances, romantic comedies and giving the characters the chance to talk, I penned My Favorite Mistake. I hope you enjoy Molly and Austin's tale. I do.

Blurb: She's always known who she wanted. Now she's needs to find the strength to make him see they're more than a mistake.

Molly Neff creates promotional art for companies with confidence and her working partner is sex on legs. Austin Dean is sexy, smart and everything she's wanted in a man since the moment they met. They've slept together a couple of times, but things haven't worked out between them. When another woman enters the picture, can Molly convince Austin they belong together or will the relationship end up scrapped for a better idea?

As much as he likes working with Molly, Austin wants more out of life than creating advertising campaigns for others. He wants to be the star. Molly has always been his good luck charm-with her brains and charm, she helps him make his dream come true. But his starring role comes with complications. He's always sort of known he loved Molly, but another woman wants his attention. Will he choose Molly and a simple life with her or the bright lights of fame?
