The Rockford Files, Law & Order, Magnum P.I. S5, Columbo S5, Kojak S1, Monk S3.THE ROCKFORD FILESThe Rockford Files is regarded as one of the finest private eye series of the 1970s, and indeed of all time.Driven by brilliant scripts, winning characters, and the charm of its star, James Garner, the series has amassed a loyal cult following. James Garner stars as Jim Rockford, an ex-con turned private investigator who lives and works in his trailer in Malibu, Los Angeles and drives a gold Pontiac Firebird. Jim had been imprisoned for five years in San Quentin for an armed robbery which he did not commit and was later pardoned. Joining Jim is his father Joseph, also known as Rocky, who gives him advice, words of wisdom and even assistance and his best friend Sgt. Dennis Becker who later becomes Lieutenant, who helps him get important information about the cases he handles. Also at his side is his lawyer, friend and ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Davenport and his former cell-mate Evelyn Martin, known as Angel, who is always up to something illegal.

"Rockford's” style is said to have influenced the creation of many other detective shows, including Magnum P.I..

LAW & ORDER

“In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.”

Law & Order follows a small team of New York City homicide detectives from the fictional 27th Precinct who investigate thrilling ripped-from-the-headlines cases. From time to time, the focus shifts from the investigation of the crime to the prosecution of the offender, which is always handed over to the same small team of lawyers from the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

Noted for its revolving cast, the regular appearance of new faces has constantly changed the show's dynamic, allowing it to effectively reinvent itself repeatedly. Four long-serving exceptions are Steven Hill as Adam Schiff, Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy, Jerry Orbach as Detective Lennie Briscoe, and S. Epatha Merkerson as Lieutenant Anita Van Buren, who is the show's longest-serving actor.

Powerful, timely and gripping, Law & Order has become one of television's most celebrated and widely acclaimed American crime series of all time.

MAGNUM P.I.

Cult American classic Magnum P.I. first aired in 1982 and tells the story of former Navy Seal officer Thomas Sullivan Magnum (Tom Selleck) as laid-back private investigator, Magnum P.I, guarding the estate of wealthy author Robin Masters whilst fighting crime on the streets of Hawaii.

Together with sidekick, Larry Manettie, Magnum P.I risks life and limb hunting down the perpetrators of burglaries, murders, forgery and prison breakouts whilst struggling with the demons from his time in Vietnam.

A rare series that skillfully blended action, humor, drama, and suspense Magnum PI quickly became a hit, thanks to the combination of smart and witty scripting, gorgeous locations, and the considerable charm of lead Tom Selleck as former Naval Intelligence officer Thomas Magnum.

COLUMBO

One of the most beloved and appealing detective series of all time, acclaimed actor Peter Falk stars in his four-time Emmy® -winning role as the slovenly police lieutenant from the Los Angeles Police homicide department.

Each season of Columbo builds on the success of the previous and remains a strong, well-acted drama lead by the talented character acting of Peter Falk, who returns each series as the never-changing, mac-wearing, cigar-smoking eccentric detective that many criminals mistakenly underestimate.

However appearances can be deceiving and Columbo lures even the shrewdest of murderer into a false sense of security when our favourite detective once again using his calling-card goodbye: “Oh, there’s just one more thing…”

KOJAK

"We're all born bald, baby."

Supercop Leiutenant Theo Kojak, played by Telly Savalas, in the Seventies cop-drama series has been revered as the epitome of cool.

Known for his memorable catch phrases, he's got style, and a penchant for lollipops, and he's hitting the gritty streets of New York City in pursuit of some of the toughest criminals out there.

Kojak is a policeman of purpose, showing up for work like the rest of us, moaning about the lousy coffee, but dedicated to masterful detective work through his street skills and logic. Despite the lollipops and catch phrases - Kojak thrives on thinking.

“Who loves ya, baby? Kojak does.”

MONK

The obsessive-compulsive crime solving detective, Monk, has suffered from a variety of phobias since the murder of his wife Trudy which remains unsolved to this day. Still desperate to prove to his boss, Captain Leland Stollelmeyer, that he is fit to return to the San Francisco Police Department, Monk continues to solve the city’s crimes using his photographic memory and the amazing ability to piece together tiny clues.

Fresh, exciting and utterly original, Monk’s hilarious, offbeat antics means that this brilliant but neurotic detective is now fighting crime as well as his abnormal fears of germs, cars, heights, crowds and virtually everything else known to man.
