Bow Wow is a father for the first time.

The rapper, whose real name is Shad Moss, welcomed daughter Shai Moss with his ex-girlfriend, Joie Chavis, in early June, according to MediaTakeOut.com.

The 24-year-old has yet to publicly talk about becoming a dad after months of keeping the baby news secret, but he has posted a number of messages on his Twitter in recent weeks, hinting about the newborn.

After appearing to visit Shai, he wrote: "This is da (sic) worst part leaving you. Right now u don't (sic) understand but later on u will. Time to go out n (sic) get it (make money) so u can have the best life ever."

Bow Wow's mum, Teresa, has been more open about her first grandchild on her Twitter page, and wrote last week: "Shai is so beautiful. She looks like a baby doll. OMG!!! Y'all already KNO what I'm going to do... spoil her and shower her with lots of LOVE."
