Anne Hathaway felt overexposed after winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 and was happy to take an extended break from the limelight for the rest of the year.

The 'Les Miserables' star, who won the Best Supporting Actress gong for her performance in the movie at last year's ceremony, was worried about backlash from the public following her success and was happy to keep a lower profile for the rest of 2013, as it gave her time to relax with her husband, Adam Shulman.

The 31-year-old actress told the Huffington Post at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah: "My impression is that people needed a break from me."

The brunette beauty, who only made a brief cameo in 'Don Jon' last year, also hinted that her extended break away from Hollywood was not just her decision.

She explained: "I think there's a common misconception about actors -- that we have a lot more control than we do about when things happen."

Anne is now ready to re-enter the spotlight and has two new movies coming out, 'Song One,' and 'Interstellar,' which was directed by Christopher Nolan.

Speaking about having a busier schedule again, she said: "We met on this ["Song One'] in 2011 -- I was working on 'Batman' -- and then we developed this script and the music for two years, and we shot it in June. We had been planning on shooting in the fall and then Chris Nolan called with an offer for a part in his new movie...

"So, we would either have to wait and push until after that -- which nobody wanted to do -- or move it up and have a truncated pre-production, which is what wound up happening."

She added: "I am not complaining about how it's working out."
