Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway will be starring alone in a new one-woman show.

Taking centre stage, the actress takes on a role as an elite fighter pilot in New York Public Theater's production of Grounded, opening on April 7.

The 70-minute show is to be directed by Julie Taymor, and theatre bosses are said to be delighted with the ladies they have on-board.

Artistic director Oskar Eustis said: "'Grounded' is a brilliant and important play, a meditation on the human and moral costs of our astonishing military technology. This promises to be an unforgettable theatrical event, and an important addition to our national conversation.

"Anne Hathaway and Julie Taymor are amazing, unique artists, and we are honoured to produce them at the Public Theater."

Following a fighter pilot who's reassigned to operate drones from a trailer in the Nevada desert after falling pregnant, the show's a monologue which explores her thoughts and feelings as she completes a 12-hour shift, aiming weaponry at targets thousands of miles away, before returning home to her baby daughter and husband.

Anne's currently promoting new movie One Song, and insists it was a harmonious experience working with her husband Adam Shulman - producer on the film.
