The 32-year-old actress - who is best known for playing Mindy Chen on the Netflix comedy series 'Emily in Paris' - was hospitalised with "critical septic shock" in the early days of 2024, after her tonsillitis "spiralled" into a potentially life-threatening scenario.

And in an update to her followers, the 'Mean Girls' actress confirmed she was deemed fit enough to fly to Paris by doctors and she is being comforted by her 'Emily in Paris' "family" as she continues her recovery in the French capital.

Emily took to Instagram to share pictures of flowers from well-wishers, her having a "couch cuddle" with her 'Emily in Paris' co-star Lily Collins and her having acupuncture.

Thanking her supporters, she wrote on Instagram: "I'm deeply moved and thankful for your beautiful messages of support and comfort, your personal stories of sepsis and hospitalization, and truly to every person who has reached out with love… every message has honestly boosted me into a quick and hopeful recovery."

She continued: "I’m sorry for the delay in responses, just wanted to update that I was medically cleared to fly after responding to treatments, and am now recovering and resting in Paris where I was greeted with this incredible warm welcome from loved ones and my Emily In Paris fam thank you to @netflix and @emilyinparis for their genuine kindness and gracious patience as I wait to be medically cleared to work… I couldn’t be more excited to join then all on set for Season 4.
