Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley's daughter has thanked her fans for their concern after she collapsed on stage on Saturday night (12.04.14).

Alexa Ray Joel was rushed to New York's Presbyterian Hospital from her sold-out show at Café Carlyle, where she was diagnosed with Vasovagal syncope, one of the most common causes of fainting that occurs when the body overreacts to certain triggers, such as extreme emotional distress.

The 28-year-old 'Notice Me' hitmaker, who was at the end of five consecutive performances at the venue, released a statement on Monday (14.04.14), saying: "I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to support me. I was excited and determined to fulfil my final performance and I really wanted to end my run with a bang, but this was not what I had in mind and hope I have the opportunity to make it up to the wonderful audience very soon. Thanks for all the concern."

Supermodel Christie, 60, was in the audience with her other children, Sailor and Jack, when the incident occurred.

The brunette beauty, who was recently forced to deny she underwent extensive plastic surgery, admitted she wasn't feeling well during her performance, according to the New York Post's Page Six.

The singer - who was hospitalised after a reported suicide attempt in 2009, previously fainted "from stress, lack of sleep, and just overall exhaustion," before going on stage at Marist College in 2006.
