The 'Burnt' star insisted he's no Scrooge and is more than happy to part with his cash when he takes his stunning model-girlfriend Irina Shayk out for posh meals.

And speaking to Nick Snaith for Magic Radio, the actor revealed his dad "instilled" the tradition in him.

He shared: "I grew up with having that instilled in me from my father so I've always been generous.

"For a £120 meal... I'd tip probably £30, or £35... yeah that's about right!"

The hunk - who stars as a chef in his latest movie - added that once upon a time he was on the receiving end of customers' appreciation.

He added: "I waited tables. I was in the kitchen up until college, and then I was the worst waiter in the world for a very short time."

Meanwhile, the star revealed shedding weight after playing deformed circus performer the Elephant man on Broadway was "difficult" because of his new role.

He said: "I was trying desperately to lose 25Ibs during the movie which was very difficult because we are cooking in the film. Everything you see, I'm actually doing.

"So that's real food and we're cooking and it smells great, and its right there and the texture... God! Usually when a scene's over, the crew and everybody just shuttles out of the room. Everybody just stayed around and ate.

"Marcus Wareing created all the dishes. He had one or two people there all the time making sure we were doing an authentic job."
