Cate Blanchett is returning to work after the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman and has arrived in Los Angeles to attend the official Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills tomorrow.

'The Monuments Men' star, Blanchett had cleared her schedule last week to mourn the loss of her close friend has areturned to Los Angeles with husband, Andrew Upton, ahead of the official Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills.

The 44-year-old actress is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Woody Allen's 'Blue Jasmine' at the ceremony on March 2, flew into LAX today (09.02.14) to attend the prestigious event, but was still in a sombre mood as she walked through the airport, according to the MailOnline website.

Cate cancelled a string of promotional appearances last week so she could support the 'Capote' star's estranged partner, Mimi O'Donnell, and attend his funeral in New York City on Friday (07.02.14).

A spokesperson for the Australian star previously said that her team made the decision to postpone interviews on 'Good Morning America' and 'Live! With Kelly and Michael' to promote 'The Monuments Men,' "to allow Cate the time and privacy to grieve the loss of her friend Philip Seymour Hoffman."

The Oscar-nominee formed a close friendship with the 46-year-old actor, who was found dead in his apartment from an apparent heroin overdose last Sunday (02.02.14), while starring alongside him in 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' in 1999.

The actress and her husband, who were among 400 mourners at Philip's funeral, were visibly distraught after the service at the Church of St Ignatius Loyola, Manhattan.
