Catherine, Princess of Wales has reportedly been hit by a medical records security breach

Bosses at The London Clinic were said on Tuesday (19.03.24) night to have launched a probe into hospital staff allegedly attempting to view the 42-year-old royal’s private documents while she was a patient at the facility in January for the abdominal surgery from which she is still recovering.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “This is a major security breach and incredibly damaging for the hospital, given its unblemished reputation for treating members of the Royal Family.

“Senior hospital bosses contacted Kensington Palace immediately after the incident was brought to their attention.

“They assured the palace there would be a full investigation.”

The Mirror added it is understood mum-of-three Catherine – who has children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five with her 41-year-old husband Prince William – was made aware of the alleged security breach.

It is a criminal offence for any staff in an NHS or private healthcare setting to access the medical records of a patient without the consent of the organisation’s data controller.

The London Clinic has refused to comment on the alleged security breach – but a spokesperson said: “We firmly believe that all our patients, no matter their status, deserve total privacy and confidentiality regarding their medical information.”

Kensington Palace added in a statement: “This is a matter for The London Clinic.”

The report of the alleged breach comes as conspiracy theorists continue to fill the web with wild speculation about the state of Catherine’s health despite her and husband Prince William being captured on video at the Windsor Farm Shop.

Footage emerged on Monday (18.03.24) of the pair after Catherine was also hit with rumours about her health after she and William released a photo for Mother’s Day in the UK on 10 March that she later admitted she had badly edited.
