Cheryl Cole's mum thinks she'll regret her bum tattoo after she had the whole of her posterior inked with a vine of red roses earlier this year and while she has defended her dramatic new body art, her mother Joan Callaghan has reportedly warned that the tattoo may not be as appealing when the pop star's in her twilight years.

According to the latest issue of heat magazine, Joan called Cheryl and told her: "You'll regret that when you're older."

The singer had the whole of her posterior inked with a vine of red roses

Cheryl got the far-reaching tattoo - which extends from her lower back to her butt - in February, but had only shown off the upper half. The full extent of the body art only came to light last month when tattooist Nikko Hurtado posted a picture of it on Instagram.

It was recently reported the snap took Joan by surprise as Cheryl had only shared her intimate inking with boyfriend Tre Holloway.

A source said: "Joan phoned to ask her, 'What the hell is that?' She was shocked. She knew Cheryl was getting more tattoos done but had no idea how big this one actually was. It freaked her out to see it in pictures before seeing it in the flesh as well."

The brunette beauty has been criticised for going too far with the tattoo, but Cheryl remains content with the artwork, which she's had for roughly eight months.

She wrote on Twitter: "People are entitled to their own opinion. I've never really concerned myself with other people's body parts."
