Chris Brown has filed an appeal to protect the graffiti decorating his house in Los Angeles.
The 'Fine China' hitmaker claims that city officials have no right to force him to remove the mural that he created on the front of his home because it would violate the U.S. First Amendment, which protects freedom of expression.
According to new legal documents filed by the 24-year-old singer, who was recently informed that the graffiti art is "unpermitted" and that he has to remove it, has accused the city of wrongly trying to punish him for having an illegal "sign" because the mural is art that "[enhances] the architectural and aesthetic features of the residential property."
He added: "The murals are a reflection of [my] aesthetic taste and a reflection of free speech and expression protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution."
The Department of Building and Safety's board of appeals is currently reviewing the Grammy-winner's case.
There is a small chance that it could end up in the Supreme Court if Chris refuses to back down, according to gossip website TMZ.com.
Chris regularly shares pictures of his latest artistic creations on Instagram.
The singer also painted his now ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, a romantic piece, which depicted them in a loving embrace and included a personal message that read, "you're my girl for life," last Christmas.
The couple recently split again and Chris is now rumoured to be dating his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.
