The 'Thor: Ragnarok' star has been married to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky for almost seven years and they have three children together. Since they met in 2010, the former 'Home And Away' hunk's film career has skyrocketed thanks to starring roles in the Marvel 'Avengers' blockbusters, while his spouse has been happy to take a "supporting" role and step back from the spotlight.

Chris told US entertainment show 'Extra': "A marriage is a partnership, and you both have to put aside your own individual wants and realise it's a mutual adventure.

"My wife definitely put aside her career. She had done, like 20 films in Europe in French, Spanish, and then we had kids and she said, 'This is your bit, do it and I'm here for you, supporting.'

"I'm incredibly thankful for that."

The 34-year-old actor and Elsa, 41, settled in the 'Thor' star's home country Australia in 2015 with their five-year-old daughter India Rose and twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, three.

In between raising their family and supporting Chris, Elsa has still found time to star in the hit 'Fast & Furious' movie franchise as law enforcement officer Elena Neves.

Chris is making his sixth appearance on the big screen as hammer-wielding superhero Thor in the latest Marvel movie 'Thor: Ragnarok', but the Hollywood hunk joked the rippling muscles he bares in the film were just an illusion.

He quipped: "It's all about lighting and special effects, it's not me!"

But asked how often he goes to the gym Chris admitted: "Probably five days a week."
