The 45-year-old singer and her ex-boyfriend Kris Smith - who is the father of her child - are so proud of their six-year-old boy Ethan as he's started to learn the traditional language at school.

Speaking to Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper, he said: "I think we are very blessed, Dannii and I. He's such a good kid. He's polite, kind, generous honest, he's kind of perfect."

And, although his son spends most of his time in Melbourne with his mother, Kris really enjoys taking him home to Sydney.

He explained: "He loves reading. I gave him the choice of anything in any toy shop [the other day and] he wanted and he picked Harry Potter books, and Roald Dahl. We read a lot."

Dannii and Kris met in 2008 in Ibiza, where the ex-professional rugby league player was celebrating his 30th birthday.

After two years of dating, the then-couple announced they were expecting a baby together and Ethan was born on July 5, 2010.

In 2012, the pair announced they had split on amicable terms and were determined to co-parent their little boy.

Kris went on to romance model Maddy King and, although they've recently split following for years of dating, he has admitted he's feeling "clucky" now Ethan is at school full time.

He said: "I spent a lot of time with a friends' baby, Florence, whose eight months old now and I'm getting a bit clucky again. I'd love more kids. I just need someone to help me out.

"Am I on the look out for a lady? I'm relatively newly single but I'd never say no, if somebody takes your eye and steals your heart, then of course."
