The star-studded cast of the Jon Favreau-directed Christmas movie - including the likes of Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, John Lithgow and Busy Phillips - are reuniting for the special table read, which they're doing to support the Democratic candidates in the Georgia Senate runoff in early 2021.

Looking forward to the livestream, Zoe tweeted: "If I were any more excited to be in the #ElfForGeorgia reunion I might explode into a burst of snowflakes. Join me, Will Ferrell, and many other amazing people from the original cast along with some special guests for our live reading! All donations go to support GA dems (sic)"

The runoffs will ultimately decide whether Democrats or Republicans will control the US Senate, and the table read - which is scheduled for December 13 - will support Georgia Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

Organisers of the event have suggested the ticket donation price starts at $30.

'Elf' tells the story of a human called Buddy - played by Will Ferrell - who is adopted and raised by Santa's elves. He ultimately heads off to New York City in search of his biological father and along the way, he seeks to spread Christmas cheer in what's become an increasingly cynical world.

The 2003 movie is one of the most popular Christmas films of all time and is widely considered to be one of the high points of Will's career.

Despite this, Will previously admitted to having doubts about 'Elf' during the shoot.

The comedy star recalled thinking to himself: "This is either going to be a home run or people are going to go, 'Whatever happened to you? Why did you do that one about the elf?'"
