The flame-haired beauty - who made her Broadway debut in a remake of the classic film in 2014 and 2015 - has admitted she found it hard to get through the shows because her voice was "gone" and she was losing her motivation.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the show, she said: "My voice was gone, and I was struggling to get through the shows - I was still doing 'Cabaret' - and the idea of doing another musical was like, 'You've got to be out of your mind.'

"'After 'Cabaret', I wasn't sure I would ever sing or dance again."

And the 'La La Land' star has admitted she felt "overwhelmed" by Hollywood when she moved to the East Coast aged 21, because she felt "too surrounded" by the film industry and people constantly talking about it.

She explained: "I started to feel overwhelmed by the energy of Hollywood. I would go places, and all anybody could talk about was the entertainment industry. I just felt too surrounded by that.

Nor will Emma be fazed by awards ceremony.

She said: "It's something that I can get into too much of a tizzy about."
