Britney Spears and Charlie Ebersol are "homebodies".
The 33-year-old singer has been dating the TV producer for around five months and Charlie - whose parents are NBC executive Dick Ebersol and actress Susan Saint James - credits their love of "centreing back" home to making their relationship work amongst their bust schedules.
He told People magazine: "The thing that I learned from my parents was no matter how busy you are, home base is the single most important thing. As long as you're centreing back to home base and that's the strongest magnet in your life, that everything else is OK."
The couple have to spend a lot of time apart and Charlie, 32, admits communicating on the phone and online doesn't compare with being together.
He said: "The best part of this relationship is when we spend time together."
It was recently revealed that Britney has stuck up a close bond with Charlie's mother, despite her initial disapproval of the pop star.
A source said: "His dad was totally cool with Charlie dating Britney, but initially his mom hated the idea. She really did not approve of Charlie dating a celebrity.
"She's really proven herself at being a great girlfriend and now his mom loves that they are together. Britney and Charlie's mom text each other all the time.
"Charlie's mom was impressed with how good Charlie is with Britney's sons. They are like one big happy family."
