The 'Downton Abbey' star has been volunteering at a vaccination centre near his home in Midhurst, West Sussex and he admits it has been such a "glimmer of hope" for the local residents.

Speaking to BBC News, she said: "I get to wear a high-vis and be very bossy and go, 'Oi!' No, it’s just to welcome people – as I’m about to do. 'Good morning sir, welcome.' For some people, it’s the first time they’ve been out of their house in, you know, a year. We’ve had people who’ve been grateful for the outing as much as anything and this sense of a glimmer of hope, so it’s great to be part of this team effort. It’s not relief because it’s not over, but the sense of hope. To be proud of that is really lovely."

Meanwhile, Hugh recently had the first dose of his COVID-19 vaccine.

Taking to Twitter, he shared a photograph of him getting the jab, captioning it: "Midhurst’s Riverbank Medical Centre started vaccinating last week. Today Midhurst Pharmacy, led by Raj Rohilla, joined the rollout in north West Sussex. #vaccine #jabtastic ... Delighted to be part of the support team as a volunteer marshall. I get to wear hi viz and everything. (sic)"

Hugh Bonneville is just one of the stars who have had their COVID-19 jab. Others include Sir Anthony Hopkins, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Martin and Dame Judi Dench.
