The 'Late Late Show' presenter admits the 'Crazy in Love' singer is at the top of his list for the popular musical segment of his nightly talk show and planned to use the Emmy Awards on Sunday (18.09.16) to try and persuade her to join him in his vehicle for a singalong road trip.

Asked if he'd be scouting the awards show for his next guest, he told E! News: "Well you just told me that Beyoncé is coming, so yes, in that case, is the answer!

"It's recording artists only and she's the one. I just want to get in that Beehive. So we'll try, we'll really try our best."

Britney Spears recently appeared on Carpool Karaoke and admitted afterwards she found the segment very "awkward".

She said: "Well he controlled the whole thing, and sometimes I got onto him and said, 'I don't want to hear that song again'. They didn't show that part.

"['Hit Me Baby One More Time' and 'Oops I Did It Again'] Oh my God, and he kept playing them. He put a wig on for it. Yeah, I totally went along with it.

"It was a little awkward, like, driving by grocery stores. People walk by and there are like 18 cameras around us. This is just so awkward."

However, despite her reservations, Britney insisted she had fun.

She said: "Carpool Karaoke was really fun. The guy was just so incredibly sweet. I had no idea he has kids, he's a teddy bear. I was like, 'I just want to hug you right now.'"

And Britney even recreated her iconic 'Baby One More Time' video, by donning her infamous school uniform as she belted out the hit.

'The Late Late Show' host got involved too, opting for a similar outfit, complete with a blonde plaited wig.

And he's still holding out for Kanye West to agree to bring his rapping skills to the show, but he's bailed on him twice before.

James shared: "Kanye has been booked to do [it] twice now but both times something came up.

"He'll do it eventually... He wants to do it."
