Jimmy Kimmel has joked that he can't open his own mail without being reminded about the Oscars envelopegate.

The 50-year-old is returning to host the annual awards bash on March 4, but in a promo video, he's admitted he's still recovering from the envelope fiasco, when the wrong film was named as the Best Picture winner in 2016.

Pretending to speak to his therapist in the video, he explained: "You know, I dream about it every night.

"I've tried to get past the past, you know, put it behind me. But it just catches up to me.

"I feel like I'm losing my mind. And then the worst part is, they want me to do it again! So what do I do?"

But Kimmel's therapist - who turns out to be Warren Beatty, who was at the centre of the envelope mix up - is distinctly unimpressed by his complaints.

He responds: "I don't care what you do, just get out of my house."

The awkward mix up meant that 'La La Land' was named Best Picture, when the coveted gong was instead supposed to go to 'Moonlight'.

Jimmy also joked about the memorable moment at the bash on his own chat show.

He recently said, tongue-in-cheek: "I am hosting the Oscars again this year, and I'm excited. I cannot wait to find out which movie accidentally wins Best Picture."
