The singer is offering his fans the chance for a personal performance, with a donation of $10 giving those who enter 100 chances to win, and all proceeds going to his Show Me Campaign which is aiming to rebuild the auditorium at his old school - the former South High School in Springfield, Ohio.

On the raffle's website, a YouTube video was posted of the singer playing a keyboard adorned with red rose petals.

He says in the video: "Hey, I'm John Legend, arguably, one of the most romantic people in the world.

"Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Love is in the air and I'm feeling very inspired to spread the love. That's why I want to sing a private show for you. Anywhere! Even your wedding! And if you're already married, that's cool, let's celebrate your anniversary.

"Not married? Not a problem," he continued. "I'll sweeten up that hot date and get you to that next step...of marriage, of course."

John goes on to warn that he won't sing "weird cover songs" but admits there could be one exception, before launching into his rendition of Color Me Badd's 1991 smash hit single 'I Wanna Sex You Up'.

Ending on March 26, the raffle will also allow those who enter in with a chance of hanging out with the singer.

Meanwhile, a scheduled appearance at a party in his honour tonight has been cancelled at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, because John's and the Sultan of Brunei's views on same-sex marriage differ.

A spokesperson explained: "John Legend will not be attending the L.A. Confidential party at the Beverly Hills Hotel in light of the horrific anti-women and anti-LGBT policies approved by the hotel's owner, the Sultan of Brunei...

"John does not, in any way, wish to further enrich the Sultan while he continues to enforce these brutal laws."

Los Angeles Confidential magazine who are throwing the party said that they "respect" John's decision.
