A representative for Johnny Depp has accused Amber Heard of "reimagining" the defamation trial she went up against Depp in, after portions of her interview with NBC broadcaster Savannah Guthrie were aired.

Now, Heard’s team have responded with their own challenge to Depp, with a spokesperson commenting: "If Mr. Depp or his team have a problem with this, we recommend that Johnny himself sit down with Savannah Guthrie for an hour and answer all her questions."

It’s unlikely that Depp is to take this advice and speak to Guthrie. After all, he did walk away from the Depp v Heard defamation trial winning all of his claims and receiving a recommended $15 million damages from the jury, reduced to just over $10 million.

His team had previously said: “It’s unfortunate that while Johnny is looking to move forward with his life, the defendant and her team are back to repeating, reimagining and re-litigating matters that have already been decided by the court and a verdict that was unequivocally decided by a jury in Johnny’s favour”.

This came after a juror in the trial spoke to Good Morning America anonymously, telling them that Heard's tears were perceived as "crocodile tears" by members of the jury, who found that her testimony "didn't add up".

In her interview with Guthrie, Heard has said she will stand by her testimony until her “dying day”, saying that she paid the price for “speaking truth to power” and, that the case was more than just “Hollywood brats at their worst”.

She also said she didn’t blame the jury for coming to their decision, instead laying that at the door of the legal team who represented Depp.

Heard admitted she “made a lot of mistakes”, but insisted she had never lied about the abuse she alleges she was on the receiving end of.

Her sit-down with Guthrie will air Friday, June 17 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on a special Dateline. The interview will be available on TODAY.com following the broadcast, and the special hour of Dateline will be available on Peacock.
