The 41-year-old actress filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt - the father of her kids Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - earlier this week and her dad Jon Voight admitted he is "concerned" for his daughter and the rest of her family.

He told TMZ: "I'm sure she's doing fine. Listen, I'm concerned about anyone who's going through tough times... for the family and for the kids."

But the 'Ray Donovan' star - who has a strained relationship with his famous daughter - didn't want to say anything else on the matter.

Asked if he had anything to say to his daughter, he said: "No, no guys. That's it."

Jon admitted earlier this week he was shocked by the couple's split, but felt something "serious" must have happened for his daughter to take steps to end her 12-year relationship.

He told Inside Edition: "It's very sad. Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this.

"I don't know what it is. It's a sad thing. Say a little prayer. I am concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I will be seeing them very soon."

Whilst Angelina didn't have too close a relationship with her father, she was incredibly close to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2007.

It has been claimed Brad has been left "devastated" by Angelina's decision, which was reportedly triggered after he had a row with Maddox on a private jet last week.

A source said: "He is beside himself and has been crying. He was completely caught off guard and blindsided and had no idea she would do this.

"Angelina filed the court papers a minute before the courts closed on Monday night. He didn't have a lawyer or anything. She had threatened divorce in the past but he did not think she would file this time. He is completely devastated and beside himself. He is a shattered man."
