The 'Kocktails With Khloe' host feared that attending her brother-in-law's fashion extravaganza - which saw the debut of his new album 'Life of Pablo' - at New York's Madison Square Garden would be "too much" for her estranged husband's first public appearance since his near-fatal collapse last October.

She told US Weekly magazine: "I did not want him to really go to New York. It's scary. I had a ton of anxiety.

"You're first time out at Madison Square Garden? Like, I just felt like, 'Is it too much stimulants for his brain? Who knows?"

But Khloe and Lamar were thrilled when doctors agreed the 36-year-old basketball star could make the trip from New York to Los Angeles and the 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star is grateful to Kanye for personally escorting the sportsman to his seat at the venue.

She added: "Everyone cleared him. He was good to go and it meant so much to Lamar. And I thought it was so dope of Kanye to want to walk out with Lamar."

Lamar was determined to make it to the show because of the support he has received from Kanye - who has children North, two, and Saint, two months, with wife Kim Kardashian West - in his battle back to health.

Khloe said: "Kanye was really instrumental in Lamar's getting better.

"He would come to the hospital and play his album for Lamar. And Lamar couldn't speak at this time. And music is definitely a form of therapy.

"When he was able to finally speak, he said, 'Man, Kanye really helped me. I love that he would come.'"

Though Khloe, 31, and Lamar have grown close again since he was found unconscious in a Nevada brother, she insists they are just friends.

She added: "Just building a friendship back is what I'm doing now, it has nothing intimately, nothing at all, just pure love, and I want someone to learn how to love themselves again."
