Kristin Cavallari was cautioned by police in Illinois for driving without a valid licence earlier today (06.09.13).

The former 'Hills' and 'Laguna Beach' star - who is married to Chicago Bears football player Jay Cutler - was taken to a local police station and forced to pay $120 because she doesn't have a valid licence to drive in the state.

Per state laws, new residents are required to attain an Illinois driving licence within 90 days of moving there, but Kristin, who splits her time between her native Los Angeles and Illinois, insists she isn't a permanent resident and therefore isn't subject to the law.

Venting about her ordeal, Kristin wrote on Twitter: "Who knew having a California drivers license in Illinois was a CRIME to be escorted to the police station to post bail?!! What a morning ... FYI...I still have an apartment in LA so I'm a resident of California (sic)"

According to TMZ, who contacted local Illinois police, Kristin, 26, was initially stopped by officers for speeding but upon further investigation, they found she didn't have a valid licence.

The reality TV star was instructed to drive to a nearby station in her own car and she was then hit with the $120 citation and told she must obtain a valid licence to continue driving in the state.
