The 'Pokerface' hitmaker was devastated when two of her three French bulldogs were stolen last month, and her dog walker shot, and she offered a $500,000 reward for their safe return.

However, police investigating the dognapping have urged the singer not to yet pay out the money as they believe it is possible the woman who found the dogs was part of a gang.

A source has told TMZ that the Los Angeles police department are still ruling out her involvement in the crime, which saw Gustav and Koji stolen and her dog walker, Ryan Fischer, shot four times.

At the time of the dognapping, Lady Gaga took to social media to post a heartfelt plea, confirming she was offering $500,000 in exchange for “their safe return”.

Alongside a series of photos of her dogs, she wrote on Instagram: “My beloved dogs Koji and Gustav were taken in Hollywood two nights ago. My heart is sick and I am praying my family will be whole again with an act of kindness. I will pay $500,000 for their safe return. Email [email protected] to contact us. Or, if you bought or found them unknowingly, the reward is the same. I continue to love you Ryan Fischer, you risked your life to fight for our family. You’re forever a hero. (sic)"

And Ryan praised Gaga's "unwavering" support in the last few weeks following the attack.

In a lengthy caption, he shared: "@ladygaga: your babies are back and the family is whole… we did it! You have shown so much support throughout this whole crisis to both me and my family. But your support as a friend, despite your own traumatic loss from your kids, was unwavering. I love you and thank you ... And now? A lot of healing still needs to happen, but I look forward to the future and the moment when I get bombarded with kisses and licks (and maybe even an excitement pee?) from Asia, Koji, and Gustav (sic)"
