The 'Chicago Fire' star, who got engaged to the 29-year-old singer last Valentine's Day on February 14, says he had no doubts about getting down on bended knee.

Discussing the special moment, the 33-year-old actor said: "It was snowing - it was beautiful."

Asked why he decided to ask her to be his wife after four years of dating, he told the Chicago Tribune magazine: "I just knew. It wasn't a light bulb going off."

Taylor is involved in planning their wedding, but hopes to have some extra help when it comes to choosing his own outfit.

He said: "I'll have someone help me out with a tailored suit that fits well and looks nice ... but I'm not out there doing that on my own."

Lady Gaga previously admitted she instantly knew the actor was the man for her.

She said: "I really can't imagine being with anyone other than who I'm with right now. He is the right guy. I have that feeling. I just know it."

A source recently said the couple, who started dating after meeting on the set of the singer's music video for 'You and I' in 2011, want their wedding day to be a traditional "family celebration."

The insider added: "She's just coming up with ideas now. She's asked her sister Natali to be the maid of honour, and her dad can't wait to walk her down the aisle.

"They want it to be a family celebration."
