The former 'Xtra Factor' host and his professional partner Janette Manrara were eliminated from the show last night (02.10.16) after receiving the lowest number of public votes, and his fellow celebrity competitors are devastated at losing the first of their number.

Laura tweeted: "Devastated to not have my friend @Melvinodoom on the show next week. He's one of the best people I know X (sic)"

And Danny Mac posted: "Gutted to lose the first of our incredible squad. So much love for #TeamJBoom. @Melvinodoom @JManrara X (sic)"

Greg Rutherford wrote: "We're all going to miss the man and legend that is @Melvinodoom on the dance floor. Genuine and lovely man #SCD"

Louise Redknapp will miss the star's flamboyant outfits.

She tweeted: "@Melvinodoom going to miss you, I've never seen a man look better in bright pink trousers and I loved your moves X(sic)"

Politician Ed Balls admitted he'll be lost without having Melvin to help him out.

He posted: "@Melvinodoom is such a generous guy, a real comrade - really helped me out over the last few weeks - so sorry to see him go out #bbcstrictly (sic)"

Melvin and Janette's departure was shrouded in controversy because, for the first time in the show's history, there was no dance off as singer Anastacia - who is partnered with Brendan Cole - was unable to dance after tearing her mastectomy scar.

However, the pair are not resentful of the situation.

Janette wrote: "Sending all my love to @Melvinodoom for an incredible few weeks of dancing! You brought so much joy & happiness into my life! #NewFriend

"I want to send @AnastaciaMusic all the positive vibes for a speedy recovery. Nothing but love for you & @BrendanCole (sic)"

Melvin added: "I have really enjoy my @bbcstrictly experience ....I have had so much fun and want to thank everyone for their support! #teamjboom"

And the 36-year-old DJ is now backing Laura and her professional partner, Giovanni Pernice, to win.

He posted: "Thank you Laura ...smash it girl!! You are doing so well keep it up will be supporting you guys all the way X (sic)"
