The 50-year-old comedic actress has joined the American broadcaster for the event in Pyeongchang, South Korea, but Leslie has joked about her lack of understanding of some of the sports on her Twitter account.

The 'Saturday Night Live' star wrote in reference to the men's luge competition: "WHAT IN THE SIMPLE F**K IS THIS?! AND WHY?!!!! @Olympics (sic)"

And in regards to the ice skating relay, the confused star wrote: "Who got the baton!! Somebody explain this man!! (sic)"

But it was the curling event that was enough to tip Leslie over the edge, with the actress admitting she was so confused by the sport that she needed to go to bed.

Of the bowls-like game, which is played on ice, she tweeted: "Is it like marbles?' I don't understand I'm going to bed on that one!! @NBCOlympics @Olympics (sic)"

Leslie agreed a deal to join NBC shortly before the Winter Olympics and the broadcaster's production and programming president, Jim Bell, said he was looking forward to her insight.

He explained at the time of the announcement: "Experiencing the Olympics through the lens of Leslie is unlike anything else.

"Her passion for Team USA is contagious, and her adventures in South Korea should be fascinating."

However, Leslie's interest in sports isn't restricted to the Winter Olympics.

In 2016, the 'Ghostbusters' actress turned her attention towards soccer, admitting she'd started watching the game as part of efforts to find a new boyfriend.

Leslie joked: "Ok y'all soccer is on today I'm gonna be looking for a boyfriend lmao (sic)"

The Hollywood star subsequently admitted to being attracted to some of the players and coaches, including Tim Howard, the former goalkeeper of the US national team.
