Sir Mick Jagger

Sir Mick Jagger has become a great-grandfather for the first time.

The 70 year old Rolling Stones rocker's granddaughter Assisi Jackson and her boyfriend Alex Key welcomed a daughter into the world over the weekend, HELLO! reports.

The new arrival, whose name has not yet been announced, is the first grandchild for Assisi's mother Jade, 42, who is due to give birth to a baby boy next month.

Assisi, 21, previously admitted her grandfather was delighted she was expecting a baby.

She said: "He said, 'Well done,' and I said, 'I didn't have to try too hard.' "

However, she admitted the 'Paint it Black' star, who was left devastated in March by the suicide of his long-term girlfriend L'Wren Scott, was unlikely to be calling himself great-grandad.

She said: "I imagine it's nice to be a great-grandad - although I'm not sure he likes the idea of getting old, or being called one. I call him Mick - I wouldn't start calling him Grandpa."

Despite her young age, Assisi insisted the time was right for her to have a baby.

She said: "I grew up quite quickly and wouldn't have considered having a child if I was doing what my friends are doing at this stage, messing around. I don't drink, I don't smoke and I'm very settled."
