Niall Horan has admitted that he's "often close to puking" when appearing on television.

The star of One Direction reveals that despite his time on The X Factor, he can't get over his fears when he has to go on talk shows and other TV programmes.

He explains in the band's new book 'One Direction: Who We Are': "You never come home from a 1D show and say it was quiet. It's the loudest show on the planet.

"But oddly enough, if I'm honest, going to perform on a TV show is when I get the most nervous.

"In fact, I get so tense I'm often close to puking."

Admitting he tries to avoid the typical lifestyle of a celebrity, he counts going to the supermarket as a day out and revealed that when he spoke to Justin Timberlake in 2013 before perform at the American Music Awards, he had to hold back from throwing up once more.

Niall continues: "Before we went out, Justin Timberlake was coming off after collecting an award and I remember saying to the lads; 'Is that the calibre of people here?'

"To make matters worse, as he walked off Justin came over to say hello and I was bricking it, nearly swallowing my own puke. I was fine in the end, but it's draining being that nervous."
