The radio presenter met his now-partner Meshach Henry just a day after he quit his role hosting BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show and he has revealed one of his pals predicted their meeting.

He said: "It was when I was doing Breakfast, because we were entering our 30s – I started that at 27, maybe 28 – but when we started getting into our 30s, everyone was like, 'I’m having a baby,' 'I’m meeting this person and maybe I’ll get married.' And I remember being like, 'Oh my God, I want a boyfriend. I need some partnership here.' And I remember, our friend, Amy, who is a fountain of advice and wisdom and knowledge, she said: 'When you finish Breakfast, you will meet someone. Now is not the time. You’ve got to focus on this show; it’s annoying, it’s hard, no one wants to do that apart from you.' She was like, 'You like it, but don’t drag someone else into that 4.30 wake-up. That’s your dream, not theirs.'  I was like, 'Okay, fair point.' So, she said, 'When you finish, you’ll have space to focus on someone,' and I remember being like, 'Amy, what does she know?' And then, I finished that show on Thursday and, yeah, I met Meshach on Friday.  Which is so mad, like literally the next day."

The 36-year-old star knew Meshach was the one when they first locked eyes with one another.

Speaking to Clara Amfo on her This City podcast, he added: "We went to this pub and had a few beers, and then we went to this club on Hackney Road, and as we were going in, he was in the smoking area and I caught eyes with him.  And I saw him, and I honestly had that feeling, like the fake thing that people say or people say in romcoms, like, 'Oh, I honestly feel like I know him,' and I was like, 'Maybe I know him from somewhere' ... And then, now we’ve been together for like two-and-a-half years or something crazy."
