The 44-year-old actor shot to fame in the 'Lord of the Rings' and the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchises in the early 2000s, and while there was "so much heat and attention on him" at the time, he learned not to take fame "seriously" and has mastered the art of living his life without "being looked at the whole the time" over the years.

Orlando - who has daughter Daisy, six months, with Katy Perry and Flynn, 10, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr - told The Big Issue magazine: “In terms of preparing my younger self for fame, I would honestly just say you can’t take that stuff seriously.

“And you can’t let it stop you living your life. There was a window when I was in my twenties, when we didn’t have Facebook or Instagram or anything, but there was still so much heat and attention on me.

“I got really good at hiding myself because I was really, painfully, trying to live, without being just looked at the whole time."

On the advice he would give his younger self or those just starting out, he added: “I would say to my young self, just appreciate it and enjoy it, and know today’s newspaper is tomorrow’s fish and chip paper."

The 'Carnival Row' star previously confessed he was "sick of the sight" of himself after becoming a star.

He said in 2020: "It just unfolded. I had this insane run, like you said, I don't think there are many people who had a run like it, two trilogies and Ridley Scott, Cameron Crowe ... just a huge run.

"I was sick of seeing myself. I was sick of the sight of myself, almost, with all the publicity that had to go along with all these movies, and inevitably, I think, you just burn out to an extent to yourself and for an audience."
