The Jackson family's lawyer insists Paris Jackson's recent suicide attempt had nothing to do with their wrongful death lawsuit against AEG Live.
Perry Sanders - who is representing the 15-year-old aspiring actress's legal guardian and grandmother Katherine Jackson in the trial against the concert promoter - says the court battle did not cause Paris to allegedly cut her wrists and swallow 20 Motrin painkillers at her home in Calabasas, California, last Wednesday (05.06.13), amid rumours she is terrified of being forced testify after giving a pre-trial deposition in March.
He told People.com: "Nobody would force her to do anything. I was with her both days of her deposition. She was a poised person. The deposition went fine, and Paris is a good, strong person."
A source close to Paris indicated that the trial, which began seven weeks ago, has contributed to her depression because it has reminded her of the sudden death of her father from acute Propofol intoxication in 2009.
The insider said: "The trial has brought up the loss all over again. She's paying attention to every word of it. She's feeling that pain all over again."
The Jackson's lawyers have refused to comment on whether they are still planning to call Paris as a witness, but Marvin Putnam, who is representing AEG Live, said the defence was never planning on asking her to testify.
He said: "Our intention has never been to call Paris. It was the plaintiff who announced that she was on their witness list, and even confirmed they might call her after the tragic incidents."
The Jackson family are suing AEG Live for hiring and not properly investigating Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for his role in Michael's death.
