Paris Jackson allegedly attempted suicide because of her grandmother's strict rules.
The 15-year-old star's cousin Tanay Jackson claims Paris overdosed on over-the-counter pills and slit her wrists earlier this month as a protest against the "torment" of having to adhere to her 83-year-old grandma Katherine Jackson's oppressive rules and strong Jehovah's Witness beliefs.
According to The Sun newspaper, Tanay - who is the daughter of Michael Jackson's brother Tito, said: "Paris wasn't happy living with my grandma and was under a lot of stress. There are rules in the house and not everyone wants to abide by them. I understand her torment. I understand what it's like with my father's family."
Paris - who is still recovering from the incident in hospital - has lived with her brothers Prince Michael, 16, and Blanket, 11, under Katherine's legal guardianship in Calabasas, California, since the King of Pop died in June 2009 from a fatal dose of Propofol.
This comes after Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled during a hearing on the late 'Bad' singer's estate yesterday (25.06.13) that he will make no changes to the children's guardianship following Paris' suicide attempt.
The troubled teen has been growing closer to her mother, Debbie Rowe - who waived custody rights when she divorced Michael in 1999 - in the midst of claims from her godfather, British actor Mark Lester, that he is her biological father.
Meanwhile, on the fourth anniversary of the global superstar's death yesterday (25.06.13), Michael's brothers Jackie, Marlon, Tito and Jermaine ignored the controversy surrounding the paternity allegations, telling TMZ: "Four years ago today we lost one of the greatest musicians, entertainers, and icons the world has ever known. But to us, Michael was first and foremost our brother. We carry his spirit with us always, and we love and miss him every day."
