Penelope Cruz has welcomed a little girl.

The 39-year-old Oscar-winning actress and her husband Javier Bardem, 44, who already have a two-year-old son, Leonardo, welcomed their second child into the world in Madrid, Spain, on Monday evening (22.07.13), and sources have confirmed that she gave birth to their first daughter.

According to Hola! magazine the 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' actress delivered her baby at the Ruber Internacional hospital with her 'Skyfall' actor husband, as well as her parents and siblings, Monica and Eduardo Cruz, by her side.

The notoriously private couple have yet to provide any further details about the baby, including the child's weight and name.

Shortly after welcoming her first child, Penelope said she felt like motherhood completely changed her.

She explained: "From the first second, you feel so much love. It is a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever."

The 'Nine' star also wants her family to have a normal life.

She recently said: "I want my son and my kids - if I have more - to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible. The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work we do doesn't give anybody the right to invade our privacy."
