The 'Against All Odds' hitmaker is set to re-marry his third wife and believes their "sensible" nature led them back to each other.
He said: "It's lovely. I'm back with her. We never really wanted to split. I mean, we did, but we stayed in touch, and we were so close because of the kids, and we kept it sensible. We didn't go the way that a lot of couples go, and that obviously is evident because we are back together again. The boys are over the moon because their dad is back with their mom."
When asked what the secret to their relationship is, he added to Entertainment Tonight: "Patience. Wisdom. I'm a lot older now. So is she. And you kind of, you do it."
Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that the couple - who have sons Nicholas, 14, and Matthew, 11 together - are "determined" to tie the knot again.
Orianne said: "I now call Phil my husband again. We are so close that it does not actually make a difference if we are married or not, but we are determined to get married for a second time.
"We were always very close, because of the children, and just last year I realised he is indeed the man of my life."
