The 73-year-old music manager had planned his own memorial service before losing his battle with cancer earlier this month, and as well as wanting it to take place at Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica - where he tied the knot with the 'My Heart Will Go On' singer in 1994 - he also ensured there were further links to the couple's wedding.

Audrey - the daughter of Celine's sister Ghislaine - had been flower girl at the couple's wedding, while her cousin Jimmy, whose father is the singer's brother Jacques, had carried the rings, so they were asked to lead the processional to the front of the basilica on Friday (22.01.16), People magazine reports.

The family members are both now 29 years old and Audrey pushed Jimmy - who was left quadriplegic after an accident - in his wheelchair down to René's casket, while her cousin carried the same pillow he had previously held with the rings on.

René had selected the music for the service, which included songs by his wife - with whom he had sons René-Charles, 15, and Nelson and Eddy, five - such as their favourite, 'All the Way'.

He also requested the family entered the church at 3.20pm, just as Celine's song 'Trois Heures Vingt' - which translates to three and 20 - was played.

The businessman has been praised for being "generous" enough to ease the burden on his wife by planning the service.

Celine's stylist and friend Annie Horth said: "René was generous enough to prepare all of this since the last few months with Celine.

"He didn't know when it would happen, but he really wanted everything to be already prepared."
