Ricky Gervais insists there's "no point" in getting married.

Ricky Gervais says he has no intention of marrying Jane Fallon, who he's been dating since 1982.

The 53-year-old comedian has been with his girlfriend Jane Fallon for more than 30 years but they have no intention of tying the knot because they don't "need" gifts for their home, and he joked he wouldn't want to be in a situation that required their families to meet.

He told 'The Late Show with David Letterman': "I don't think there's any point to us getting married. We don't want any more toasters, we never want our families to meet, that'd be terrible."

And Ricky also joked he and Jane never wanted children because they didn't want to have to share their wealth.

He joked: "Kids are spongers, they never give you anything back. They cost money, let's keep all our money.

"Let's get our money together and go across Mexico, throwing money out. You in the Mustang, me in the Volkswagen, just throwing money out! No one will have it!"

The 'Office' star recently admitted he doesn't worry about dying, but he is concerned about how he will pass away.

He said: "I don't even think about who people will think of me when I die. It's meaningless. And I don't worry about death, I only worry about how you die. My mum died of lung cancer and that's just about the worst thing you can have. It's a horrible way to go."
