Russell Brand considered taking holy vows and becoming a monk after his split from Katy Perry.
Brand, 38 was married to the brunette beauty for 14 months before spliting from the American singer in December 2011 - revealed he considered becoming one of the religious figures, who live alone or with other monks, to try to stop himself having sex with women.
Speaking at a warm-up gig for his Messiah Complex tour at the Soho Theatre in London's West End on Wednesday (31.07.13), he said: "When I got divorced, I considered becoming a monk. When you're a monk, you're not allowed to have sex with anyone.
"When you're married, it's one person. That's one more than a monk. It's not that different.
"I'd be having sex thinking, 'Think of anyone, anyone else.' "
The 'Get Him to the Greek' star also told of a night out he went on with his teenage heroes, former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher and The Smiths' singer Morrissey, but as he wasn't drinking alcohol he was ridiculed by the duo for the whole evening.
He said: "They took the p**s out of me all night. As they got more drunk, as a non-drinker I was able to just look at them and think, 'You *****.' "
