The 68-year-old star has decided to revert to her trademark red hairstyle after worrying that she looked like the 'Beverly Hillbillies' character with grey locks.

Speaking during an appearance on The Talk this week, Sharon said: "I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and I'm like, 'Nah, you look like Grandma Clampett; nah, I'm changing it back' and that's what I did ... Just one quick look [of the grey hair], you know when you're like, 'Oh dear, no, gotta go.'"

Sharon first adopted the grey locks earlier this year but confirmed that she had decided to go back to a red coif as she celebrated her birthday last week.

Asked if the makeover was "connected to her birthday", she replied: "Yeah, it was. First of all I have to thank everybody, everybody here, because it was amazing. Everybody was just, went out of their way for me and you all just make it so great."

Sharon previously revealed that she had gone grey in lockdown after getting "fed up" of dying her hair red for nearly 20 years.

The TV personality explained: "I was just so fed up of going and having it dyed and having it dyed. And I just was like, 'I can't do this anymore.' I'm like, 'Why am I trying to do something or be something that I'm not?'"

Sharon revealed that she hoped to follow the "elegant" look of stars such as Jane Fonda and Dame Helen Mirren – who have both embraced grey hair.

She said: "Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren – and I'm like, 'Look how elegant they look.'"
