OJ Simpson insisted he was in ‘good’ shape in the weeks leading up to his cancer death aged 76

One of the world’s most famous acquitted murder suspects passed away on Wednesday (10.04.24) after he lost a cancer battle, 30 years after he stood trial for the double-killing of his ex-wife Nicole Brown, 35, and her 25-year-old friend Ron Goldman.

Simpson confirmed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and announced he would start chemotherapy on February 9, but 48 hours earlier told fans in a video posted online: “My health is good.”

He was seen in the clip sitting outside on a lawn chair while wearing a San Francisco49ers jersey, and added: “I mean obviously I’m dealing with some issues, but I think I’m just about over it.”

Acquitted murder defendant Simpson added he was convinced he would be back on his beloved golf course in two weeks, and ended the clip by saying the 49ers would win their next game – adding: “God bless, take care, and I hope your team wins, if your team is the 49ers.”

Before his death Simpson had also taken to X to deny gossip he was being cared for at a hospice.

He ranted: “Hospice?! Hospice?! You talking about Hospice?”

Referring to scandal-plagued former US president Donald Trump, 77, Simpson added: “No, I’m not in any hospice. I don't know who put that out there, but whoever put that out there, I guess, it’s like the Donald said, ‘You can’t trust the media.’”

Simpson’s family said in a post on X announcing his death: “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”
